 Il Poggio
is a farm set in 70 hectares among the green  hills of the Tuscan countryside.
The large stone-farmhouse, situated  on  its own hill, offers  a wide, spectacular "vista" of the gentle rolling  countryside  of the Upper Tiber Valley.Green hills merge into olive groves then continue to merge into vineyards,  fields and  silent  rows  of cypresses, offering possibilities for relaxing walks while enjoying the great view of the lake and valley below.
The  farmhouse  has  been  recently  restored  maintaining  the traditional  atmosphere of a typical Tuscan farm house. With beamed ceilings,  stone  walls and tiled floors,  the  house  is  very comfortably furnished with antiques.
Secluded by well-established trees from both, the house and the rest  of the gardens, is  the private swimming pool surrounded by lawns and a furnished pergola. Swimming in the oversized pool, 7 x 14m  (21 x 42ft), surrounded by olive groves and lavander bushes, creates an incredible wellness to both, body and soul.
The delightful geographic  position makes Il  Poggio an ideal place for a very comfortable  holiday in complete privacy,  within easy daily reach of the most beautiful  cultural  and  artistic towns and cities of Tuscany and Umbria. Sansepolcro is approximatly 5 km away and lies in  a  valley where the river  Tiber begins.   A town steeped in art with remnants from 14th and 15th century, it was the birthplace of  Piero della Francesca, some of whose  paintings  can be seen in the local museum.  Even though Florence, Arezzo, Siena  and Perugia are the more  famous cities, there are equally memorable places like  Monterchi,  Anghiari,  Gubbio, Cortona, Assisi, the Franciscan  Sanctuary in La Verna and  Caprese Michelangelo  the birthplace  of the great Michelangelo Buonarroti.  All this is a  fascinating itinerary in the heart of the region where the Renaissance has its deep roots. At Il Poggio's guests disposal is information about local history, folklore and about traditional cuisine  of our typical restaurants.  There  is no better way to explore and appreciate Tuscany than from the comfort and  the convenience of a  sojourn in an old countryhouse. We are looking forward  to welcoming you among our valued guests.
